About The Program
The Empowered Futures: College prep mentorship for Black Girls is a transformative 3-month hybrid initiative (in-person + virtual) running from October to December 2025. This program supports Black girls in embracing their identities, building confidence, and preparing for their futures with clarity and support.
This program is for Black girls in grades 8–12 across Metro Vancouver who want to grow in confidence, find community, and take steps toward their educational and personal goals, all in a space that affirms their identity and brilliance.
What To Expect
Participants will engage in bi-weekly workshops, community building, and mentorship check-ins, all while working on a personalized College Application Packet. This packet is a tangible project that they’ll develop throughout the program and includes:
A personal statement draft
A brag sheet or resume
Scholarship research tracker
College/career exploration map
Reference request templates
Application timeline and planning tools

Mentorship from Black women leaders
Safe, joyful space to learn, share and grow
Snacks and refreshments provided during in-person sessions
College application project completed by each participant
Virtual check-ins and follow ups to stay connected
